This comic blog is absolutely brilliant! I mean it. I was just looking at the forums and saw your post on the Flickr issue when I saw you put a link to this blog. I think it’s so original. I’m always amazed at how many talented people are out there on the web (it’s just not porn!) being free and pushing the envelope of creativity with the many and various tools at hand. I believe you use Comic Life software (one of my favorite apps that I went ahead and purchased the Deluxe version).
Keep writing and posting. You’ve given me some new ideas to try on my own burgeoning blog, Cyan Skies (http://nando67.wordpress.com) although the comic blog concept is officially yours.

Hey, thanks! It’s nice to get positive feedback, especially since my blog’s only been up and running 4 days. Yes, I do use Comic Life, mostly for page layout and text boxes, and then Photoshop for most of the comicification process. I like the blog title, Cyan Skies. I’ll check it out thoroughly soon…

Yes, thanks for that–I’m rather surprised, myself, more people aren’t already doing this fun format. For those of us who can’t draw beyond the stick-figure level, it’s a wonderful thing to have access to digital technology so that we, too, can express our creative sides…

The Great Gatsby in Italian sounds like a fun read, especially if you’ve already read it in English. I bet Rome was gorgeous–I hope you’ll send me some pics? Or maybe you’re planning on getting that Flickr account up and running! Go for it dude!
Yeah, it certainly takes time to make a comic, from deciding which photos I need to tell the story, to coming up with the text and figuring out how to make it all fit on a single page. It’s kind of like a puzzle or an exercise in conciseness. I do enjoy the process very much, though, and it seems like I’m getting a little better at it.

How many years ago was THAT? Wasn’t that decade the Cheeze-Whiz 80s? And all this time I thought you were a big Y&R fan, heh. NE was my fave with its endless ethical conundrums to resolve each week. Good Stuff. Hey, maybe we should do a bicoastal toast to our tv-freedom and to life outside the BOX!

You are my hero!! Pulling the plug on TV and rediscovering books is very admirable. I don’t want to tell you how much $$ I spent on my new HD LCD TV… It is a great device but has little to do with the real world.
Another enviable thing is that you have the TIME to read all those books! (and take photos and make these comics…) Turning off the boob tube must have something to do with that.
I see Neuromancer in that stack of books. Have you gotten to that one yet? Make sure you note the year it was written. He predicted so many aspects of the Internet age. I hear he had never used a computer at the time he wrote the book!

Yes, it’s true with no TV watching I have more time to do things like swim or make comics or read. I think it’s a good trade-off. With no TV, though, I still have to be careful not to spend too much time on the computer. Getting this blog going has cut into my reading time!
Neuromancer is one of those books I’ve read several times. It’s a good one. I first read it in a Comparative Lit class in college around 1990. Copyright 1984! Yeah, I think I had heard something similar. Did you know Neuromancer is the first book in the Sprawl trilogy? I haven’t read the others but I’d like to. Neuromancer was also the first book William Gibson wrote. He actually coined the word “cyberspace.”
That IS one sweet honkin’ flatscreen TV you have, though!
